Another use of reverse engineering is to document parts or equipment that either did not have manufacturing drawings created, or that have been lost over time.
 
Reverse Engineering     Reverse engineering is the process of discovering the technological principles of a device, object, or system through analysis of its structure, function, and operation.
 
SMC typically uses Autodesk Inventor software for reverse engineering. This allows SMC to provide a way to generate new or missing manufacturing CAD files and update/create as-built documentation. The Autodesk Inventor software allows us to measure a part(s)and create a fully featured CAD model which can then be used to manufacturing drawings.
