The Stuart McElrath Company’s cast steel bend fittings (also known as pneumatic transporter elbows) are designed to give 3 to 5 times the wear life of conventional welded fitting. The typical bend fitting is made up of 8 pieces that are carefully welded together. This means that you are relying on 8 welded seams to maintain the integrity of the fitting. In operation, a welded bend fitting flexes during the transport cycle as it is pressurized and de-pressurized. This reduces the integrity of the fitting’s welds over time.
Cast Steel Bend Fitting

The cast bend fitting has NO side weld points. This eliminates the principle point of failure on welded bend fittings. And, by the nature of the casting process, the walls of the cast steel bend fitting are thicker than the stock material plates used in the manufacture of welded bend fittings. The thicker side wall also increases the wear life to the cast fittings over welded designs.

SMC's cast bend fitting uses standard 150 lb. pipe flange configuration for easy connection to existing transport pipe.
