SMC
| Reverse Engineering |
|
|
SMC can reverse engineer
equipment and parts for the purposes of improving reliability through
the use of high alloy wear materials, or supplying OEM parts
at reduced costs, or for the manufacture of vintage parts.
Reverse engineering may be done when a part or machine has
design shortcomings and original manufacture is not available to
fix it. |

Reverse Engineering |
|
|
Reverse
engineering is the process of discovering the
technological principles of a device, object, or
system through analysis of its structure, function,
and operation. |
|
|
The need to maintain legacy
equipment operationally sound which are
no longer supported by their original equipment manufacturer
(OEM) is a problem which can be solved by reverse
engineering. |

|
|
SMC uses 3D CAD software for reverse engineering. This allows SMC to
provide a way to generate new or missing manufacturing CAD files and update/create as-built documentation.
The software allows us
to measure a parts and create a
fully featured CAD model which can then be used make
manufacturing drawings, pattern drawings for castings and
for CNC machining of the final part.
The advantages using 3D CAD software for reverse

Once the project is
complete, parts lists and vendor sources will be provided to
the customer along
with copies of all drawing files. Additionally,
a full set of
pdf files will be provided for quick reference. |
